River Gallo is a New York–based filmmaker, writer, and actor known for centering intersex and queer stories with a mix of grit, humor, and empathy. They gained wide attention with Ponyboi, first as the short film Ponyboi and later through the feature film Ponyboi, expanding the character’s world and themes of identity, survival, and chosen family. Gallo’s work frequently challenges medical stigma and social erasure, pairing intimate character study with bold visual style. In interviews and public appearances, they also advocate for intersex visibility and LGBTQ inclusion across the screen industries. They have also appeared in projects and festival circuits.
