Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a U.S. Representative who has made LGBTQ equality a consistent part of her progressive agenda. She supports the Equality Act, condemns state bills targeting transgender youth, and argues that healthcare, housing, and workplace protections must explicitly include sexual orientation and gender identity. Ocasio-Cortez uses hearings and social media to elevate queer and trans voices, link anti-LGBTQ rhetoric to broader attacks on civil rights, and press federal agencies to enforce nondiscrimination rules. As an ally in Congress, she emphasizes intersectionality—especially for LGBTQ people of color, immigrants, and low-income communities. She also highlights Pride as civic solidarity, not marketing.
