Gigi Chao is a Hong Kong entrepreneur and prominent advocate for LGBTQ equality. After publicly coming out as lesbian, she used her visibility and resources to support inclusive policies, donate to community groups, and challenge the stigma that often surrounds queer families in parts of Asia. She became internationally known when her father’s highly publicized “dowry” offer for a husband sparked global attention; Chao responded by reaffirming her relationship and urging respect for same-sex love. Through business leadership and philanthropy, she has pushed conversations about marriage, dignity, and safety for LGBTQ people especially for youth navigating pressure, secrecy, and discrimination.
