Dua Saleh is a Sudanese American singer, songwriter, and actor whose work blends alternative R&B, hip‑hop, and experimental pop with candid storytelling about identity and faith. Based in the Twin Cities, Saleh gained attention through the EP Nūr and the project Rosetta, praised for atmospheric production and sharp lyricism. They are nonbinary and often foreground themes of queerness, belonging, and diaspora in both music and visual art. Saleh also appeared on Netflix’s Sex Education as Cal Bowman, bringing understated charisma and trans representation to mainstream television. Their performances pair poetic intensity with bold, minimalist style and fiercely independent creative voice. Saleh is non-binary and uses they/them and xe/xim/xyr pronouns.
Quote: “As a trans non-binary person, I see that there are not many places for trans and queer people to breathe in this political landscape. I’m hoping that my music will offer people a break from that: to sing along to my songs, and not feel like they’re being consumed by the propaganda machine that’s working to actively kill us off within society at this moment.”
